ZAMA PARA IS BEST DESCRIBED AS AN ORIGINAL “SINGER/SONG-WRITER” ACOUSTIC/ELECTRIC BAND WITH TOUCHES OF JAZZ, FOLK AND ROCK. THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES FEATURE SONGS WITH UNIVERSAL MESSAGES ALONG WITH MUSICIANSHIP THAT OCCASIONALLY RESULTS IN ENGAGING JAMS. ZAMA PARA’S INFLUENCES RANGE FROM DAVE MATTHEWS BAND AND JACK JOHNSON TO UMPHREY’S MCGEE AND PINK FLOYD VIA BOB DYLAN AND COUNTING CROWS. DRAWING FROM A WIDE RANGE OF MUSICAL INFLUENCES, ZAMA PARA HAS CREATED A SOUND OF THEIR OWN THAT NO ONE GENRE CAN DEFINE.
ZAMA PARA was originally the solo vehicle for Singer and Guitarist, Randy Perrone. Having performed his original songs as an acoustic solo act around New Orleans, Randy wanted to experiment with a larger sound that only a full band could offer. Relying on the internet to advertise for musicians, Randy was first joined by Fernando Puig, from Caracas, Venezuela, on Drums. An experienced musician who has played in several original and cover bands, along with studio work. Playing styles ranging from jazz and blues to rock and popular top 40 music. Fernando was followed by Ole Oddlokken on saxophones. A Norwegian musician who started playing at the age of 9 in local orchestras in Lillehammer, Norway. Ole moved on as an adult to play in Big Bands and Blues Bands in his hometown. Randy, Fernando and Ole had played together for a couple of years, when Cal Castillon, a talented Singer/Guitarist, from Kenner, LA. joined the band. Back in NOLA from Albuquerque, NM. via Stockton, CA. he started his search for musicians to play with. Zama Para reached out and asked him to come out and jam. Cal is now sharing the lead singing duties with Randy.
